Elders & Inspirations

along with the flora & fauna of the lands I have lived with, I have had the honor of learning from a handful of living human elders with extensive training and experience in their respective fields:

Other human elders who have had a substantial influence on my approach to this work, and continue to be a wellspring of inspiration:

Some of my ancestors that I am building relationship with through ancestral lineage healing:

… of Furry Inspiration

We become religious,
then we turn from it,
then we are in need and maybe we turn back.
We turn to making money,
then we turn to the moral life,
then we think about money again.
We meet wonderful people, but lose them in our busyness.
We’re, as the saying goes, all over the place.
Steadfastness, it seems,
is more about dogs than about us.
One of the reasons we love them so much.

I know. I know.
they (...) have different
needs and
concerns.

but I watch and learn from them.
I like the little they know,
which is so
much.

they complain but never
worry.
they walk with a surprising dignity.
they sleep with a direct simplicity that
humans just can’t
understand.

their eyes are more
beautiful than our eyes.
and they can sleep 20 hours
a day
without
hesitation or
remorse.

when I am feeling
low
all I have to do is
watch my cats
and my
courage
returns.

I study these
creatures.

they are my
teachers.
